Perfection

Can we:

Stop looking at our bodies as moral failings and instead see them for what they truly are: our embodied souls that have done their job to protect us and keep us alive?

At some point, I stopped fighting my body and recognized it for what it has done, continues to do: It has protected me and kept me alive. It protects me and keeps me alive.

I’m done fighting it and hating it. It has done an amazing job. It’s size has nothing to do with my worth as a human being. It takes up space even when I have been shrinking myself to be small ALL MY LIFE to please others. It protects me from people who would otherwise hurt me (based on my past experiences). It is so strong and so capable.

When we see our body as 'other than', as an obstacle, as something to hate and ignore it's abilities and achievements, when we are disembodied and shamed for not looking “the way we should” based on somebody else’s opinion...

My body is exactly the way it should be given the life I’ve led to this point. It’s response to traumas big and small and persistent have resulted in this shape and size. It’s size is neither good nor bad, it just is.

What will it take for you to finally see and accept that your biology has done, is doing, it’s job and your outward appearance has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with your moral character?

You are perfect, your body is perfect. You are exactly where you need to be.

It is ok to accept where you are and what you look like AND still want to change. But do it because you want to, because it makes you feel better, not because somebody, a long time ago, thought your growing body was too much, too big, too soon. You were perfect then. You are perfect now.
