Body & Soul Restoration: The Art of Self Care™
Craving some alone time with your partner, but have limited time away from home and work duties? Wish your partner could help you relax and unwind after a tough week? Interested in Natural Movement and want to introduce your partner to moving and living in their own body better? Then this One Day Couples Retreat is definitely for you! I'll provide an introduction to Restorative Exercise™ and Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Ball work for self-care and instruct you and your partner in some Thai Yoga Bodywork and massage techniques to help you take care of each other. Don't have a special someone in your life? That's OK - this would be a great workshop for you and a close friend or you and your child (age 15 and up)! There will be hands on instruction suitable and appropriate for all levels of relationships. And if your partner is worried that it will be 'too weird', I promise, no woo woo new age stuff!
Join me at the River Country Event Center Saturday, February 13, 2016. Situated upriver from Nest Lake in New London, MN, the Event Center encompasses 46 acres with a covered bridge serving as our headquarters for the day. The covered bridge is heated by a wood burning stove and will keep us cozy and warm! We'll also enjoy some of the walking trails through the woods of the Event Center (as long as the weather cooperates!).
We'll beging the day with a Body Restoration session, a combination of Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Ball soft tissue work and Restorative Exercise™ Alignment practice designed to relax and renew your body from head to toe. We'll open your eyes to some of your body blind spots and you'll be instructed in techniques that you can take home with you and practice on a regular basis to keep your body soft and supple, promote relaxation and encourage whole body movement for whole body health.
After lunch, we'll take a Meditative Walk through some of the 46 acres at River Country Event Center. This will be a quiet walk with instruction in mindfulness, tuning into the biophany around us and focusing our minds to promote relaxation and calm.
The afternoon will focus on instruction in partner Thai Yoga Bodywork* (see below for a description of Thai bodywork) and simple massage techniques. These techniques are designed for maximum relaxation without a lot of work or time needed. Appropriate for all ages and relationship statuses!
Our second Body Restoration Session of the day will continue our Restorative Exercise™ and Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Ball work, focusing on releasing muscle tension via passive releases. Not only will we be relaxing our muscles, but we'll be setting the stage for physiological quieting, i.e., taking our bodies from a state of fight or flight to rest and digest. You'll also learn the role of your breath in calming your mind and body.
Following our final Body Restoration session, we'll do our meditation of the day. This will be a guided meditation where I will lead you through a progressive relaxation with focus on the breath.
The Purpose of Body & Soul Restoration: The Art of Self-Care™ One Day Retreat is:

Based on the northern style of traditional Thai Massage (Nuad Boran), Thai Yoga Bodywork is a sacred healing treatment that integrates Yoga, Ayurveda (the Indian healing method that means “science of life”), and Buddhism. The first roots of this ancient system date back to over 2,500 years ago at the time of Buddha. Unique from other types of bodywork and massage, Thai Yoga Bodywork is also a form of Yoga Therapy that combines rhythmic massage, assisted Yoga poses, acupressure along energy meridians know as the “Sen,” healing energy work, and meditation.
